Today on December 1, 2020, Snapdragon has revealed its new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor, the company gives a look to its new processor which is going to be a feature in many of the latest flagship Android smartphones from companies like Sony, LG, Samsung, and more of the year 2021.
888 is also being the first processor from Snapdragon to be featured with an advanced 5G modem from all of its 8 series processors. The 5G modem in Snapdragon 888 will offer a fully integrated 5G modem instead of its Snapdragon 865 processor, in which it is required that manufacturers include a separate modem chip inside of the smartphone.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor
Qualcomm’s new processor is going to be powered with Qualcomm X60 modem, announced by the company earlier this year. The X60 modem from Qualcomm helps the processor to jump to the 5nm process for better power efficiency and improvements for 5G carrier aggregation across the mmWave and sub-6GHz bands of the spectrum. With the new 5nm process architecture, the new processor also seems to offer some substantial battery improvements when it comes to 5G.
Moreover, with 5G improvements, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor also features some additional advances coming to the chipset. The Chip is going to be featured with the company’s sixth-gen AI Engine, through which the company promises it will show a boost in performance and battery efficiency for most of the AI tasks done on it. The Processor will also feature the “most significant upgrade in Qualcomm Adreno GPU performance,” though specifics on what kind of improvements are coming have yet to be announced.
At last, the company previewed its processor’s new photography features, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor can take around 120 photos per second with a resolution of 12 MP. All credit goes to the upgraded ISP, which is about 35 percent faster than the previous one.
