Overlord is a light novel publications series first released on July 7, 2015, after that three back to back season hits the internet with several new records and huge fan response. Same we’re expecting from the Overlord season 4 whose release date is still a mystery. It’s been over 2 years since one of our favorite anime “Overlord” seasons 3 ended, the third season of the series ended on October 2, 2018. Since then fans are worried and eagerly waiting for the arrival of the next season of the anime i.e. Overlord season 4. There is no official confirmation yet from the makers through which we can assume the date of the release of next season.
Usually, it took some time for Manga and Novel adaptations but after some time fans start worried about the Anime season if it won’t be on time or no confirmation is given by the production house. But according to the sources and rumors we get to know that the production of the next season started before the Corona pandemic hits the world. Now as we know filming of all the shows and movies are on standby due to the world pandemic so the Overlord season 4 is no exceptional case.

Overlord season 4 Release Date Updates
As we already discussed above there is no confirmation from the production house of the makers of the anime about the next season but through some rumors and leaks, we get to know that the shooting of season 4 was started before the current pandemic hit the globe. This confirms that the next season will surely release and no fan will disappoint after all.
All we have just to keep calm and wait for the official confirmation from the production house. Season 4 will definitely come after all and we will hear an official announcement from the makers soon after the end of the present global pandemic.
The scriptwriter for the anime series discussed the possibility of the fourth season at AnimagiC 2019 in Germany, saying that it was “extremely likely” that it would be produced. “I am expecting Overlord season 4 to be announced in 2021. Expect the next season to arrive in 2022,” the scriptwriter said in his statement.
Source Material of Season 4
The source material for the Overlord anime series has been taken from a light novel series with the same name. The latest light novel seemed to be released on March 12, 2020, which makes a total of 14 light novel volumes to date. The name of the writer is Kugane Maruyama who wrote one each novel in the year 2017 and 2018 but not in the year 2019. Also, Kugane announced that there will be a total of 17 volumes o the light novel series.
Anime Overlord adapts three light novels for each of its seasons which makes 9 light novel volumes to be adapted from a total of 14 volumes. This means now there are 5 remaining volumes to be adapted and more 3 to be released which makes enough source material for the next season of the Anime i.e. Overlord season 4.
Plot of the Next season
As we know the Overlord anime is a Novel based series which means the next season will take over from the 10th volume of the light novel written by Kugane Maruyama. Volume 10 of the novel was released on May 30, 2016, and titled The Ruler of Conspiracy.
In the novel, the story volume 10 is about the Aniz Ooal Gown’s decision in which he decides to turn his kingdom into a paradise for all of the people races. Meanwhile, rulers of other countries are plotting to oppose him and his newly founded nation For More.
